LVDT

We are a professional displacement sensor manufacturer specializing in high-precision LVDT displacement sensors. Our sensors offer high resolution, excellent repeatability, and long-term stability in demanding industrial environments. We also provide flexible customization of measurement ranges, configurations, and output signals for automation, precision measurement, and industrial control.

What Is an LVDT?

A Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) is an electromechanical sensor used to accurately measure linear displacement and position. It consists of one primary coil and two secondary coils and operates based on electromagnetic induction. As the ferromagnetic core moves, the voltage difference between the secondary coils changes in proportion to the core displacement, providing accurate and reliable position measurement.

What Does an LVDT Do?

An LVDT displacement sensor precisely detects linear movement and position with high sensitivity, repeatability, and long-term stability. Its robust design allows reliable operation in demanding environments, making LVDTs widely used in industrial automation, automotive systems, aerospace, precision measurement, and industrial control.

LVDT Displacement Sensor Working Principle

An LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) is a high-precision displacement sensor based on electromagnetic induction. It consists of a primary coil, two symmetrical secondary coils, and a movable ferromagnetic core. As the core moves, the induced voltage difference between the secondary coils changes proportionally to the displacement, providing an accurate linear output signal.

With no mechanical contact between the core and coils, LVDT displacement sensors offer excellent repeatability, sensitivity, vibration resistance, and long-term stability. They are widely used for precision measurement and position feedback in metal processing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, machine tools, valve control, mold inspection, and industrial automation.

Types of LVDT Displacement Sensors

LVDT sensors can be classified by construction, measurement range, installation method, and application. Common types include rod-style, separated-core, and sealed LVDTs, as well as short-, medium-, and long-stroke models. Different mounting options include built-in, external, flange-mounted, and threaded configurations.

Depending on application requirements, LVDTs can also be designed for analog or digital output, high-temperature, waterproof, and other demanding environments. These configurations provide flexible solutions for linear displacement measurement, deformation monitoring, position feedback, and precision industrial control.
